My confidence has always been a roller-coaster. I remember always being overweight and short. It runs in my family. I was in the sixth grade when I noticed that I was a little bit heavier than the other kids. I couldn't wear kid uniform pants so I had to get men's Dickie's because they were the only things that fit. At one point I had this bathing suit that I would wear under my uniform, EVERYDAY, because it smoothed out the lumpiness of my body.

I am the one in black. I don't even know where it started. The worst thing in my life and I don't even know how it started. I don't even have a starting point OR an ending point.

I keep reading these stories that are all horribly negative. Some people are blessed with good health, some who aren't, those that dislike their bodies and others who feel inevitably betrayed by theirs.

 

But I wanted to go past all that and just say that I appreciate my body for what it is. An amazing machine.

I love me, no matter what size I am.

I've gained and I've lost, but either way I think of myself as beautiful and I believe others should think that too.

Forget about the modern perception or the obsession with the "perfect" ideal.

YOU are the perfect ideal!

So am I, and so is everyone else.

This is what makes humanity beautiful.

I promise to love you today and every day for your imperfections, your problems, your failures and triumphs because this is what makes you unique.
